Hendrix has a passion for creative self-expression, and his insatiable curiosity has driven him to explore a number of avenues in the arts and entertainment. As a result, his career path is uniquely diverse.
Hendrix brings a splash of spontaneity, humor and freshness to the canvas as well as to the all too often profit/loss focused world of business.
He began his art training at age 9, working under the tutelage of his maternal grandfather and uncle in their sign making shop. Starting at the bottom, he learned the fundamentals of his trade, washing brushes and mixing paint. Gradually, his exposure to more challenging and satisfying aspects of the job increased and his skill levels increased proportionately. Hendrix credits his grandfather with shaping his core belief that artists should work as hard at understanding the business of art as they devote to learning to create art.
Hendrix's formal education has netted him degrees in Radio and Television Broadcasting (areas of concentration in Marketing and Advertising), Visual Communication and Organizational Management and certification as a paralegal. Beyond his university training he has supplemented his education by participating in professional development courses taught by the Screenprinting Graphic Imaging Association (SGIA) and taking coursework through local technical schools and studios in the Atlanta area where he continues to broaden his understanding of commercial and studio art production.
Professional situations in which Hendrix has worked include, but are not limited to: Stained Glass/Bevel and Leaded Glass Design for a well known studio in Atlanta, a sign maker for various sign shops around Atlanta, a muralist, a syndicated cartoonist, an art director, public relations consultant, special events planner, a set designer and director for various theatricals, and working as a fine artist for more than 35 years.
Hendrix Grafix, Inc was begun in 1981 specializing in the design and production of custom screenprinted wearables, signmaking and banners, as well as fine art production, serving a diverse client base, ranging from schools and fraternal organizations to churches, entertainment venues, retail establishments, non-profit organizations, small businesses, large corporations as well as for nudist resorts worldwide.
